Kelly Nash Steps Into South Carolina’s Morning News Following Major Lineup Changen

One of South Carolina radio’s most familiar voices is taking on an expanded role following last week’s programming shakeup at iHeartMedia.

Kelly Nash has been named the new host of South Carolina’s Morning News, heard on 560 WVOC in Columbia and 94.3 WSC serving the Charleston area. Nash takes over the morning program following the departure of longtime host Gary David Barboza during the company’s recent restructuring. Christopher Thompson will continue alongside Nash as co-host, while Nash also remains part of the morning team on Country 97.5 WCOS, where he co-hosts The Morning Rush with Jonathan Rush.

The move marks another chapter in a broadcasting career that has made Nash a familiar name across the Midlands. After arriving in Columbia in 2005 at Top 40 station WNOK, he reunited with Jonathan Rush at WCOS in 2011 and has continued to build his presence in the market. Earlier in his career, Nash also served as Program Director at WKCI in New Haven, Connecticut, and spent time with Universal Records.

The transition also closes an important era for WVOC. Gary David Barboza spent decades leading the station’s programming and serving as its morning voice, becoming one of the market’s most recognizable personalities. His program expanded into the Charleston market late last year, giving listeners in two major South Carolina cities access to his morning show before his departure.

Kelly Nash now inherits one of the state’s most established news and talk morning franchises at a time when the radio industry continues to navigate significant change. As stations across the country adjust lineups and staffing, South Carolina listeners will be hearing a familiar voice guiding them through the morning hours.
