The afternoon drive lineup is getting a fresh look at 99.1 The Sports Animal in Knoxville.

Beginning Monday, July 13, Eric Cain will team with Tyler Ivens to host “Tyler & Cainer,” taking over weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. on one of East Tennessee’s most listened-to sports radio stations.

The move follows the recent departure of Will West, who exited the station after accepting a digital sales leadership position with Cumulus Media in Knoxville.

For Sports Animal listeners, Cain isn’t a new voice.

He’s already built a strong reputation throughout Tennessee for his extensive coverage of University of Tennessee athletics, earning credibility with Volunteers fans through years of reporting, analysis, and insider access. That familiarity makes the transition into afternoon drive a natural fit for a station whose audience lives and breathes Tennessee sports.

This isn’t simply another lineup adjustment.

It’s a strategic decision to pair an established afternoon host with one of the region’s most recognizable college sports personalities, creating a show built around local knowledge, informed opinions, and daily conversation surrounding one of the nation’s most passionate fan bases.

Sports radio has always been driven by one thing above all else:

Credibility.

Listeners expect hosts who know the teams, understand the community, and can keep pace with the nonstop news cycle that surrounds college athletics.

With Tyler & Cainer, 99.1 The Sports Animal is betting that local expertise and chemistry will continue driving afternoon conversations across Knoxville.

Football season is just around the corner.

The timing couldn’t be better.
