Cox Media Group Brings Phil Becker On Board To Drive The Future Of Audio Growth

In today’s media landscape, success isn’t measured by ratings alone.

It’s measured by how effectively a company reaches audiences wherever they choose to listen, watch, stream, or engage.

That’s why Cox Media Group has created a significant new leadership role, naming veteran programming executive Phil Becker as Vice President of Audience & Content Growth.

The appointment places Becker at the center of CMG’s strategy to expand audiences across traditional broadcast radio, streaming platforms, podcasts, social media, and emerging digital channels. Working alongside market managers and programming leaders throughout the company, he’ll focus on strengthening content, growing audience engagement, developing talent, and helping CMG’s brands compete in an increasingly multi-platform world.

Becker arrives with one of the industry’s strongest programming résumés.

Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of Content for Alpha Media, overseeing programming strategy until the company was acquired by Connoisseur Media. His career also includes leadership positions in Orlando, Buffalo/Niagara Falls, and Dothan, along with time as co-owner and Operations Manager of Oasis Radio Group in Fort Wayne, giving him experience at virtually every level of broadcast leadership.

In a statement released by Cox Media Group, Becker said he looks forward to building on the company’s established brands while creating content that resonates with audiences across every platform where they consume media. CMG President Rob Babin also highlighted Becker’s audience-focused philosophy and long history of developing successful brands and talent.

This move says a great deal about where radio is headed.

Programming executives are no longer responsible solely for what comes out of the speakers.

Today’s leaders must think across radio, digital, video, podcasts, streaming, mobile, and social media simultaneously. Audience growth has become a company-wide strategy rather than simply a programming objective.

For Cox Media Group, adding Phil Becker isn’t just another executive hire.

It’s another indication that the future of radio belongs to companies capable of growing audiences wherever those audiences choose to be.
