Audacy To Sell St. Louis Radio Cluster In Major Market Shakeup

One of the nation’s most recognizable radio portfolios is preparing for new ownership.

Audacy has reached an agreement to sell its St. Louis radio cluster to Hoffmann Media Group, the media division of Winnetka, Illinois-based HF Companies. Financial terms of the transaction have not been released, and the sale must still receive regulatory approval before it becomes final.

The deal includes six well-known St. Louis brands: News/Talk KMOX, 97.1 FM Talk (KFTK-FM), Y98 (KYKY), 102.5 KEZK, 96.3 R&B (WFUN-FM), and Hot 98.7, which airs on KEZK-HD2 and translator K254CR.

Hoffmann Media Group has steadily expanded its media footprint through investments in newspapers and other local media properties. The company has emphasized its interest in strengthening community-focused journalism and publishing, including significant investments tied to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other regional news organizations.

Audacy leadership said the company was presented with an opportunity that aligned with its long-term business objectives. Employees in St. Louis have been told there are no expected immediate changes to daily operations, reporting relationships, pay, or benefits while the transaction moves through the approval process. Company leadership also expressed confidence that the stations will continue serving the market under owners committed to local media while Audacy redirects resources toward other strategic priorities.

For St. Louis listeners, the familiar stations remain on the air, and for employees, business continues as usual while the industry watches one of the year’s most significant ownership changes unfold.
