Colorado Public Radio Names Jessi Whitten to Lead Indie 102.3 Programming

Colorado Public Radio has selected Jessi Whitten as the new Program Director for its independent music outlet, Indie 102.3, with her tenure set to begin June 8.

Whitten brings more than ten years of experience spanning radio programming, artist relations and community-focused initiatives. She is no stranger to the organization, having previously served as Music Director for both OpenAir and Indie 102.3, where she helped shape the station’s identity and supported emerging artists across Colorado.

The appointment follows a nationwide search, with leadership pointing to Whitten’s familiarity with the brand and her long-term vision for its continued growth.

“Jessi’s background and strategic mindset made her the clear choice to guide Indie 102.3 into its next chapter,” said Sean Nethery, Senior Vice President of Content and Planning at Colorado Public Radio.

Whitten has been closely tied to the station’s evolution, contributing as an on-air host, music director and assistant program director, including during its transition from OpenAir to the Indie 102.3 brand in 2019. Most recently, she served as Director of Audience and Partnerships at Levitt Pavilion, where she focused on strengthening connections between artists and audiences.

In her new role, Whitten will lead programming direction, oversee music selection and drive audience engagement strategies, with an emphasis on deepening the station’s ties to the local music scene and showcasing a diverse range of voices.
