One of Philadelphia sports radio’s most recognizable voices is preparing to step away from the morning drive spotlight.
Beasley Media Group Sports 97.5 The Fanatic announced that morning host John Kincade will conclude his run with the station on Friday, July 31, bringing to a close a successful homecoming that began in early 2021.
For Kincade, the decision comes after months of reflection following his battle with cancer and a desire to focus on family and personal priorities moving forward.
A Philadelphia native, Kincade’s career has come full circle. Long before becoming one of the most familiar names in Atlanta sports radio, he got his start in the Philadelphia market, building a connection with local sports fans that would eventually bring him back home.
After launching his career at WIP, Kincade went on to become a major force in Atlanta sports talk radio. His resume includes years at 790 The Zone and an impressive two-decade run on mornings at WCNN’s 680 The Fan, where he became one of the market’s most influential sports personalities. Along the way, he also expanded his reach nationally through weekend hosting roles with ESPN Radio and CBS Sports Radio.
When The Fanatic brought Kincade back to Philadelphia in January 2021, the move was viewed as a major addition to the station’s lineup. His deep sports knowledge, strong opinions, and ability to connect with listeners helped strengthen the station’s morning franchise during a highly competitive era for sports radio in the market.
In announcing his departure, Kincade expressed gratitude to Beasley Media Group, his teammates, and Philadelphia listeners who welcomed him back to the city and supported him throughout both his return and his recent health challenges. While stepping away from mornings, Kincade emphasized that retirement is not in his plans and indicated he remains open to future opportunities within the industry.
Station leadership praised Kincade’s contributions, highlighting the passion, authenticity, and professionalism he brought to the airwaves each day. Executives credited him with helping strengthen the station’s position while building meaningful relationships with listeners throughout the region.
Kincade’s departure marks the end of a notable chapter for The Fanatic, but the station’s morning show will maintain continuity. Co-host Andrew Salciunas is set to remain in mornings moving forward.
Salciunas has spent his entire broadcasting career with The Fanatic organization, beginning behind the scenes as a producer before moving into an on-air role. He was elevated to middays in 2023 and joined the morning show in March 2024, positioning him as a familiar voice for listeners as the program enters its next phase.
For Kincade, the decision represents an opportunity to focus on what matters most after decades of early alarms, major sports moments, championship runs, and countless hours behind the microphone.
After building a respected career in both Philadelphia and Atlanta, few would argue he hasn’t earned the opportunity to write the next chapter on his own terms.
While his daily presence on The Fanatic will soon come to an end, his impact on sports radio in two major markets remains undeniable.
On The Dial wishes John Kincade continued health, happiness, and success as he begins the next phase of an accomplished broadcasting career.
