With the sale of 100.5 WWFN-FM inching closer to the finish line, Cumulus Media has begun reshaping its Florence, South Carolina cluster—resulting in familiar formats popping up on new frequencies.
The biggest move sends the market’s sports programming from WWFN to 100.1 WQPD Lake City, where it now airs as “100.1 The Game.” The shift allows Cumulus to continue carrying the programming of Columbia’s 107.5 The Game (WNKT) into the Florence area even after WWFN changes hands.
In a twist of radio déjà vu, sports returns to a signal that once hosted the format for years as “100.1 The Fan” before that brand disappeared in 2021.
The sports relocation created a domino effect elsewhere on the dial. WQPD had been simulcasting Gospel outlet “Glory 98.5” WBZF Hartsville, but that programming has now migrated back to 540 WYNN Florence. The move effectively reverses changes made last October, when Gospel shifted from WYNN to WQPD. In turn, Classic Country’s run as “540 The Hound” comes to an end.
The behind-the-scenes maneuvering stems from Cumulus Media’s pending sale of WWFN to Radio Training Network. Earlier this year, the companies announced an agreement that also includes WWFF Huntsville, Alabama, and Atlanta translator W250BC in a deal valued at approximately $2.45 million.
Once the transaction closes, WWFN is widely expected to become part of Radio Training Network’s “His Radio” Christian AC network.
For listeners, it’s another reminder that sometimes the station you love doesn’t disappear—it just moves down the dial.
