Just weeks after being caught up in industry-wide staffing changes, Tony McGinty is back on the air in Northeast Ohio—and he isn’t going far. Rubber City Radio has announced that McGinty will take over afternoons on 107.3 Alternative Cleveland (WNWV), returning a familiar voice to one of the nation’s most competitive radio markets.
McGinty brings years of experience across the region to his new role. Most recently, he was part of the iHeartMedia team, where he co-hosted mornings on WKDD in Akron, programmed WRQK in Canton, and hosted overnight shifts on Cleveland rock powerhouse WMMS. Earlier in his career, he also spent several years with the company in multiple programming, digital, and on-air roles, building a reputation as a versatile broadcaster with deep roots in Northeast Ohio.
His resume extends well beyond those positions, including stops producing morning shows at WAKR in Akron, WGAR in Cleveland, and WTHT in Portland, Maine. That diverse background has given McGinty experience across multiple formats and dayparts, making him a familiar name to listeners and broadcasters throughout the region.
At WNWV, McGinty will take over the weekday afternoon drive, succeeding Carrie Danger, who recently exited the station. The appointment adds another experienced personality to the station’s lineup as it continues to strengthen its Alternative brand in the Cleveland market.
For McGinty, the move represents a quick return to the microphone after an unexpected career detour. For Alternative Cleveland listeners, it means a seasoned local broadcaster is once again part of the daily soundtrack.
On The Dial: Radio has always been a business built on resilience, and Tony McGinty’s return is another reminder that talented broadcasters have a way of finding their next opportunity. Congratulations to Tony and everyone at 107.3 Alternative Cleveland as they begin this new chapter together. We can’t wait to hear what’s next.
