iHeartMedia is keeping one of New York radio’s most familiar voices in place for years to come. The company has signed Mark Simone to a new multi-year agreement with 710 WOR, while also expanding his weekday program by an hour. Beginning with the new schedule, The Mark Simone Show will air from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, giving listeners an additional hour of local talk each weekday.
Simone has been a fixture on WOR since early 2013, when he joined the station following nearly two decades at 770 WABC, where he hosted weekend programs and frequently filled in across the lineup. His broadcasting career also includes time at SiriusXM, nationally syndicated projects alongside Tom Snyder and Steve Allen, and an early stint at New York’s WPIX-FM.
Simone approached the schedule change with his trademark humor, acknowledging the earlier start will require a slight adjustment to his daily routine. He also noted that strong audience support and advertiser demand helped drive the decision to extend the program.
The move reinforces iHeartMedia’s continued commitment to live, local spoken-word programming in the nation’s largest radio market while giving one of its signature personalities an even larger presence on the station.
