There’s something wonderfully refreshing about a radio company giving a young broadcaster an opportunity to do more than watch somebody else make the decisions. Seven Mountains Media is bringing Nicole Passero to State College, Pennsylvania, as Assistant Program Director and afternoon personality at Country Big Froggy 101, where she’ll be known on the air as Daisy Green. She’ll also serve as Social Media Director for the local station group. And while that sounds like a pretty full schedule, the fascinating part is that this young broadcaster has been preparing for exactly this kind of opportunity since college.
Radio keeps asking where its next generation of talent will come from. Well, here comes Daisy Green.
Passero’s journey includes an internship with Premiere Networks’ nationally syndicated Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, giving her an opportunity to observe one of America’s most successful personality-driven radio operations.
But her story goes considerably deeper than an impressive internship.
At Montclair State University in New Jersey, Passero became deeply involved with student-operated 90.3 WMSC, developing her experience in news, music programming, production, and on-air hosting before rising to Station Manager for the 2025–26 academic year.
She wasn’t simply showing up to play a few records between classes.
She was learning how to operate a radio station.
And apparently, somebody was paying attention.
In 2023, Passero became the inaugural recipient of the Futuri Digital Pioneer Scholarship, an award recognizing students demonstrating promise in radio’s digital future. The honor also took her to Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.
Now that experience is coming together in Happy Valley.
And here’s what makes this appointment particularly interesting.
Seven Mountains isn’t just hiring a new afternoon personality. It’s giving Passero a role in programming decisions and the digital identity of its stations.
That’s a significant vote of confidence.
Big Froggy 101 serves a market where local connections matter, from Penn State and downtown State College to Bellefonte, Boalsburg, and the communities throughout Centre County.
It’s a place where a personality can become part of people’s daily routines, community celebrations, and weekend plans.
And combining programming responsibilities with social media gives Daisy Green an opportunity to connect those on-air relationships with audiences beyond the FM dial.
I’ve always believed young broadcasters need more than encouragement.
They need opportunities.
They need experienced people willing to teach them.
And occasionally, they need somebody willing to hand them the keys and say, “Show us what you’ve got.”
That’s exactly what makes this move worth celebrating.
Congratulations to Nicole Passero on an exciting new chapter and to Seven Mountains Media for recognizing a broadcaster who’s already demonstrated tremendous initiative.
From college radio to the Elvis Duran studios to an afternoon show and programming responsibilities in Pennsylvania, Daisy Green is proving that the future of radio doesn’t have to wait its turn.
And if she can handle Penn State football weekends, an afternoon radio show, programming responsibilities, and the station group’s social media, somebody should probably make sure she’s getting enough coffee.
Welcome to Froggy Country, Daisy. Now go make some noise.
