Carrie Danger Is Back at 95.3 WLKR and the Firelands Just Got a Little More Dangerous

There’s something special about a radio personality returning to the station where a major chapter of their career began. And in North Central Ohio, that homecoming comes with a name that practically writes its own promotional campaign. Carrie Danger is returning to afternoon drive at Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting’s 95.3 WLKR, bringing her familiar personality back to the station where she first established herself as a full-time broadcaster. After several years entertaining Alternative Rock listeners in Cleveland, Danger is heading home to the Firelands, and this is one of those moves that reminds me why local radio relationships matter.

Danger previously hosted afternoons at WLKR from 2011 through 2017, returning for part-time assignments between 2019 and 2022. She subsequently joined Rubber City Radio’s 107.3 Alternative Cleveland WNWV, beginning in evenings before moving into afternoon drive in January 2024.

But here’s what makes this reunion particularly interesting.

WLKR isn’t just another music station filling an afternoon vacancy. It’s one of those increasingly rare full-service broadcasters that still understands what it means to belong to a community.

From Norwalk and Sandusky to Huron, Vermilion, and the communities surrounding Lake Erie, WLKR has built its identity around an unusually broad Adult Album Alternative music mix, local news, high school sports, community events, and relationships with the people who call the Firelands home.

It’s the kind of station where the local football score can be every bit as important as the next record.

And frankly, I love that.

Danger brings more than fifteen years of broadcasting experience, a genuine enthusiasm for music discovery, and a commitment to connecting with listeners beyond the microphone.

During her time in Cleveland, she also used her platform to discuss mental health through her Mental Health Mondays feature, demonstrating that personality radio can entertain people while making room for conversations that matter.

That’s an important combination.

Her return gives WLKR a recognizable afternoon personality who already understands the station’s audience and the communities it serves.

Beginning weekdays at 3 p.m., the Danger Zone is officially back in business.

And there’s a valuable lesson in this move.

In an industry where companies are constantly searching for the next big syndicated program or the latest technological shortcut, sometimes the smartest programming decision is remarkably simple.

Bring back somebody the listeners already know.

Give that person a microphone.

And let the relationship continue.

Congratulations to Carrie Danger and the WLKR team on the reunion.

The Firelands have their afternoon personality back, and judging by the name, somebody might want to alert the insurance department.

Welcome home, Carrie. North Central Ohio just got Dangerous again.
