Steve Simpson Signs Off After Decade At WCCO

A familiar voice is leaving the Twin Cities airwaves.

Veteran morning news anchor Steve Simpson wrapped up his final broadcast Thursday at Audacy’s Minneapolis news/talk outlet, 830 WCCO, bringing to a close more than a decade with the legendary station. Simpson joined WCCO in 2014 after spending more than 20 years as a respected news voice at WIBC in Indianapolis.

His departure marks the end of a chapter for one of the Upper Midwest’s most recognizable news brands. Throughout his career, Simpson earned a reputation for delivering breaking news with professionalism, credibility, and a calm presence that became part of many listeners’ daily routines.

In recognition of his contributions to broadcasting and the state of Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz proclaimed Thursday as “Steve Simpson Day,” honoring his years of service behind the microphone.

No additional information about Simpson’s future plans has been announced.
