Is Syndication Winning Again? WMEE’s Morning Move Reflects A Bigger Shift In Radio

Every programming decision tells a story.

Sometimes, it’s not just about one station—it’s about where the entire industry is headed.

Beginning later this month, Hot AC 97.3 WMEE in Fort Wayne will introduce the nationally syndicated “Anna & Raven” morning show, while also reshuffling its local lineup to keep one of its familiar personalities on the air.

The change moves Brooklyne Beatty from mornings into the midday shift, where she’ll continue entertaining listeners from late morning through early afternoon. Beatty has been part of the WMEE team since 2022, arriving with previous experience in both News/Talk and Hot AC radio in northern Indiana.

Afternoon personality Boomer remains in place, providing consistency during drive time while the station launches its refreshed morning lineup.

Here’s the alternative perspective.

This isn’t simply another station adding a syndicated show.

It’s another example of how broadcasters continue balancing two priorities that often seem to compete with one another:

Nationally recognized programming…

…and local personalities.

Rather than exiting the station entirely, Brooklyne Beatty remains an important part of WMEE’s daily lineup. That says something about Federated Media’s approach. Instead of replacing local talent, the company is repositioning it, allowing listeners to continue hearing a familiar voice while introducing a show that already has a growing national presence.

It’s a strategy becoming increasingly common across the industry.

As operating costs continue rising, syndicated programming allows stations to strengthen major dayparts while preserving opportunities for local personalities elsewhere on the schedule. When done thoughtfully, it’s less about replacing local radio and more about redistributing it.

For Fort Wayne listeners, mornings will sound different.

But local connection hasn’t disappeared.

It’s simply changing the time on the clock.

That’s an important distinction—and one many broadcasters are navigating as they build radio’s next chapter.
