Curtis Media Group is growing its footprint in eastern North Carolina, reaching an agreement to acquire a cluster of stations from Capitol Broadcasting Company, according to multiple industry reports and transaction details tied to the deal.
The acquisition includes several signals serving the Wilmington, Jacksonville, and surrounding coastal markets. Among the stations involved are WRMR-FM in Jacksonville, WMFD-AM in Wilmington along with its associated translators, and FM signals WKXB, WAZO, and WILT, covering key portions of southeastern North Carolina.
The transaction, brokered by Kalil & Co., Inc., represents a multi-signal deal valued at approximately $1.75 million and is expected to be filed with the Federal Communications Commission as the process moves forward.
Curtis Media leadership framed the move as a strategic investment in local broadcasting.
In a statement, the company said it is “excited to expand our presence in eastern North Carolina,” emphasizing a continued focus on serving local communities through its stations.
The deal adds to Curtis Media’s existing portfolio and strengthens its position in a region that continues to see consolidation among commercial broadcasters.
Once approved and finalized, the stations are expected to transition into Curtis Media’s operating structure, further extending the company’s reach across North Carolina’s coastal markets.
