A major Christian radio expansion is about to reshape the broadcast landscape across western Kansas and eastern Colorado.
Great Plains Christian Radio is preparing to close on its acquisition of multiple stations and translators from The Praise Network on Monday, June 1, significantly expanding both the KJIL and KHYM radio networks throughout the region.
The reported $250,000 transaction will add nine full-power stations and six translators to the Great Plains Christian Radio family, growing the ministry’s reach across Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The Christian AC network anchored by 99.1 KJIL Copeland will add former Praise Radio signals including 88.9 KPRD Hays, 107.7 KGCR Goodland, 89.3 KHLC Hill City, 89.3 KPSR Smith Center, 89.1 KGCY Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, 89.9 KPBL Beloit, 90.3 KGCD Wray, Colorado, 91.1 K216ED Phillipsburg, and 103.5 K278AP Lewis. The expansion will reportedly bring the KJIL network to 41 total signals.
At the same time, the Contemporary Worship and Teaching network led by 103.9 KHYM Copeland will add 88.1 KZCK Colby, 89.5 KGCB Wray, Colorado, 88.5 K203DL Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, 90.7 K214AU Sharon Springs, and 96.1 K241AN Pratt. That move will expand the KHYM network to 22 signals.
Combined, Great Plains Christian Radio will reportedly operate a total of 64 signals serving listeners throughout the four-state region.
The acquisition marks one of the most significant Christian radio expansions western Kansas has seen in recent years and continues the long-term growth of Great Plains Christian Radio, which first launched KJIL in 1992 and later added KHYM in 1997.
The newly-acquired stations have historically served rural communities across western Kansas and eastern Colorado through The Praise Network’s Christian programming and ministry outreach.
