New Ownership, New Formats, New Beginning: Major Shakeup Hits The Brattleboro-Keene Radio Market

A new era has officially arrived for radio listeners across southeastern Vermont and southwestern New Hampshire.

Following the completion of an $850,000 acquisition, Community Media Inc., led by Jared Goodell, has wasted no time reshaping the Brattleboro-Keene radio landscape. The transaction includes four radio stations and two FM translators, with multiple formats already moving to new homes and three fresh brands debuting across the market.

One of the biggest changes involves the region’s country audience. The Country format that debuted on WTSA earlier this year has now found a new home on 93.5 WEEY and 96.3 WFYX, where it launches under the new identity of Country 93.5. The move gives the format expanded coverage while introducing a new chapter for signals that have previously carried sports and Hot AC programming.

Meanwhile, longtime Classic Rock outlet 101.9 WKKN, known to listeners as The Peak, has transitioned to Adult Contemporary as Magic 102. The station now joins sister station Magic 96.7 WTSA-FM, sharing the same brand identity and on-air personalities while maintaining its own unique music playlist tailored to its audience.

Another significant addition comes with the launch of All News Radio. The former WTSA AM/FM translator and the 106.5 translator in Keene have both shifted to an around-the-clock news format, bringing a dedicated all-news service back to the region.

Also included in the acquisition are 100.7 WTHK and 104.7 W284AB, further expanding Community Media’s presence across the market and providing additional opportunities for future programming growth.

It’s uncommon to see this many changes take place immediately after a station sale closes. Rather than making gradual adjustments, Community Media has chosen to completely redefine much of its newly acquired portfolio from day one, creating one of the most significant radio transformations the Brattleboro-Keene market has experienced in years.

For listeners, that means familiar frequencies now sound very different. For broadcasters, it signals an ambitious investment in local radio at a time when many companies are moving in the opposite direction.
