Every once in a while, someone leaves broadcasting whose impact can’t be measured by ratings books, job titles, or years on a résumé.
Their legacy is measured by the people they mentored, the stations they helped build, and the respect they earned from everyone fortunate enough to work alongside them.
Today, Tee Gentry officially turns the page on an extraordinary career, retiring after 30 years with Beasley Media Group and closing one of the most respected chapters in Augusta radio history.
For decades, Gentry has been a cornerstone of Beasley’s Augusta operation, serving as Operations Manager while helping guide some of the market’s best-known brands through changing technologies, evolving listener habits, and an ever-competitive broadcasting landscape. While listeners may not have always heard his voice on the air, his fingerprints could be found throughout the stations, the programming, the talent, and the culture that helped define Beasley’s success in the CSRA.
Those who know Tee know he has always been far more than a programmer.
He’s been a coach.
A mentor.
A sounding board.
A problem solver.
The steady hand behind the scenes who understood that great radio isn’t built by one personality—it’s built by great teams working together toward a common goal.
As word of his retirement spread, friends and colleagues filled social media with congratulations, memories, and heartfelt thanks. Beasley Media Group honored Gentry with a retirement celebration recognizing his remarkable three decades of service, a fitting tribute to someone who has spent so much of his career helping others succeed.
Thirty years in this business is a remarkable accomplishment.
Thirty years with one company is becoming increasingly rare.
Broadcasting has changed dramatically over those three decades. Formats have evolved. Technology has advanced. Ownership structures have shifted. Yet through it all, Tee Gentry remained a trusted leader whose commitment to local radio never wavered.
While every retirement signals the end of one chapter, it also serves as a reminder of the people who quietly shape this industry from behind the scenes. They may never seek the spotlight, but they leave an impact that lasts long after the final sign-off.
Today, Augusta radio says thank you to one of its own.
Congratulations, Tee, on an incredible career, countless memories, and a legacy that will continue to influence broadcasters for years to come. Enjoy every minute of retirement—you’ve certainly earned it.
From all of us at On The Dial, congratulations to Tee Gentry on an outstanding career and a well-deserved retirement. Thank you for three decades of leadership, friendship, and service to the broadcasting industry. We wish you nothing but health, happiness, and blue skies in the adventures ahead.
