Dave Taylor Moves Into Afternoons at WAFX, Marking Internal Shift in Saga Norfolk Cluster

A familiar voice is stepping into a more prominent role at one of Hampton Roads’ long-running rock stations.

Dave Taylor has moved into the afternoon slot at Classic Rock 106.9 The Fox (WAFX) in Suffolk/Norfolk, continuing a decades-long run within the Saga Communications cluster that also includes Rock 92.9 WNOR.

Taylor has been part of the Norfolk operation since 2001, working across multiple areas of the station group. His background includes time in promotions, production, and digital content, along with regular on-air duties as a weekend and fill-in host. Most recently, he has been focused on interactive and creative services for the cluster.

The move reflects a continued pattern within Saga’s market operations of elevating long-tenured staff into key dayparts rather than bringing in outside talent. Taylor’s familiarity with both the audience and the station’s brand positions him as a natural fit for afternoons on WAFX, a station that has maintained a consistent classic rock identity in the market for years.

Before arriving in Norfolk, Taylor held promotional roles in other markets, including Saginaw, Michigan, and Indianapolis, building a foundation that has supported his long-term growth within the company.

With the shift, WAFX continues to rely on internal experience and market continuity as it maintains its lineup in a competitive rock landscape.
