One of Puerto Rico’s most recognizable radio brands is preparing to make a much bigger splash across the mainland United States.
MediaCo’s Sigma Audio Networks has announced a partnership with Hemisphere Media Group’s WAPA Media to bring “La Tendencia de Molusco” to radio stations throughout the country. The agreement places Sigma Audio Networks in charge of affiliate relations, national advertising sales, and distribution efforts as the program looks to grow beyond its home base in San Juan.
The afternoon show originates from KQ 105/WKAQ-FM and is anchored by Jorge “Molusco” Pabón alongside Alí Warrington, Pamela Noa, and Robert Maldonado. Over the years, the program has evolved into one of Puerto Rico’s most influential media properties, attracting a loyal audience through its blend of entertainment, pop culture discussion, interviews, and listener interaction.
While executives have yet to reveal which stations will be among the first affiliates, both companies are signaling confidence that the show’s appeal can translate well beyond the island. The partnership comes at a time when demand continues to grow for culturally relevant Hispanic content capable of connecting with audiences across multiple platforms.
Company leaders pointed to the show’s strong audience engagement, established brand recognition, and authentic connection with listeners as key reasons for the expansion effort. They also emphasized the opportunity for advertisers and affiliate stations to benefit from a program that already carries significant influence within the Puerto Rican media landscape.
Additional details regarding station clearances, launch markets, and rollout plans are expected to be announced in the coming months.
