Another Familiar Voice Goes Silent: Adri Stuhr Exits Star 92.9 After Just Four Months

Sometimes the biggest radio stories aren’t the headline-grabbing format flips or blockbuster talent deals.

Sometimes, they’re the quiet exits.

After only four months in afternoons at VOX AM/FM Adult Contemporary outlet Star 92.9 (WEZF) in Burlington, Vermont, Adri Stuhr has stepped away from the station.

Stuhr confirmed that the decision was driven by a combination of personal and financial considerations, bringing an unexpectedly brief end to what had appeared to be a promising new chapter in the Green Mountain State.

The move comes just months after WEZF welcomed the veteran personality to its weekday lineup. In February, the station announced Stuhr would take over afternoons from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., joining a lineup anchored by longtime morning duo Mike Czarny and Mary Cenci.

While her Burlington stint was short, Stuhr’s radio résumé spans multiple markets and formats.

Most recently before Vermont, she spent more than five years at Country 97.9 WKKW in Morgantown, West Virginia. Prior to that, she logged a decade in San Diego, including nights at Star 94.1 KMYI and work behind the scenes as a producer at Channel 93.3 KHTS-FM. Her career also includes stops in Duluth, Minnesota, and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

And maybe that’s the real story here.

Radio listeners often hear a voice and assume stability.

Same time.

Same station.

Same familiar laugh coming through the speakers every day.

What they don’t always see are the realities behind the microphone.

The relocations.

The eliminated positions.

The rising cost of living.

The difficult decisions between chasing the next opportunity and choosing what’s best for yourself and your family.

For every major market superstar, there are hundreds of talented broadcasters navigating an industry that increasingly demands flexibility, sacrifice, and resilience.

Adri Stuhr’s departure serves as another reminder that behind every airshift is a real person making real-life decisions.

As for what’s next for Star 92.9, the station has yet to announce plans for the afternoon slot.

And for Stuhr?

If her two-decade career is any indication, this likely isn’t the final chapter—just another page in a profession where reinvention often comes with the territory.
