Just one month after flipping the switch on its newest sports station, Audacy is making its first major lineup move.
Audacy’s 97.1 The Fan in Los Angeles has named content creator and veteran sports journalist James Koh as the station’s first full-time weekday host. Koh will take over evenings with The James Koh Show, airing weekdays from 6-10 p.m.
The appointment gives the newly launched station its first permanent personality assignment since debuting in the crowded Southern California sports landscape last month.
Koh is no stranger to listeners. Since the station’s launch, he has already been heard hosting various programs and filling multiple roles on the air. His promotion solidifies Audacy’s confidence in a personality whose career has bridged traditional journalism and the rapidly evolving digital content space.
Before becoming a recognizable voice in fantasy sports and digital media, Koh built an award-winning reputation as a television journalist. His résumé includes Emmy Awards in 2012 for Sports Reporter, Sports Story, and Video Journalist, along with an Associated Press Reporter of the Year honor in 2011 and an Edward R. Murrow Award for News Reporting. In more recent years, he has become a respected figure in fantasy football coverage, earning Fantasy Sports Writers Association awards in 2020 and 2022 for Best Short-Form Fantasy Video.
The move also offers an early glimpse into how Audacy may position 97.1 The Fan moving forward. Rather than leaning solely on traditional sports-talk veterans, the company appears willing to embrace personalities who can connect with audiences across radio, streaming, social media, and digital platforms.
What remains to be seen is whether Koh’s appointment is just the beginning. Audacy has yet to reveal whether additional full-time weekday hosts will be added to the lineup or if expanded local programming is planned for weekends as the station continues to establish its identity in one of America’s most competitive sports radio markets.
For now, though, James Koh becomes the first cornerstone personality of Audacy’s newest Los Angeles sports venture—a notable milestone for a station still very much in the process of defining what it wants to be.
