A new chapter is underway in Stephenville as KSTV-FM has officially rebranded as “Cowboy 93,” embracing a Texas Country and Red Dirt-focused identity under new ownership. The move follows the recent acquisition of the station group by Lonestar Broadcasting Group, led by Kenneth and Heidi Witt.
Witt, whose background includes ranching, podcasting, and law, will take to the airwaves as host of the station’s weekday morning show from 7 to 9 a.m. The format adjustment places a greater emphasis on Texas and Red Dirt artists while reinforcing the station’s connection to the Cowboy Capital of the World.
While ownership has changed hands, familiar voices will remain involved with the operation. Longtime market veteran Boots Elliott will continue calling local high school sports, maintaining one of the station’s strongest community traditions. Meanwhile, Bob Haschke will stay connected to the organization in a sales consulting capacity.
The transition marks the end of one era and the beginning of another for the historic Stephenville radio properties. With new leadership, a renewed focus on Texas Country music, and continued involvement from two of the station’s most recognizable figures, Cowboy 93 is positioning itself as a hometown destination for Red Dirt fans across the Cross Timbers region.
