The Las Vegas radio landscape is preparing for another significant shift as Audacy streamlines its Conservative Talk lineup, bringing all of its spoken-word programming together on a single signal while 840 KXNT prepares to leave the air.
Beginning September 1, the programming currently heard on KXNT will transition to 101.5 K-Dawn, which is heard on K268CS and KMXB-HD3. According to the company, the decision was driven by the loss of KXNT’s transmitter site, making continued operation of the AM facility no longer feasible.
The move marks yet another chapter in the gradual reduction of AM operations in the Las Vegas market. In recent years, Audacy has already retired multiple AM signals as changing economics, real estate opportunities, and evolving listener habits continue reshaping the broadcast landscape.
Despite the frequency change, listeners will continue hearing many of the station’s familiar voices. Alan Stock’s local morning program will make the move to K-Dawn, joining a lineup that also includes nationally syndicated host Erick Erickson. The station will continue carrying programs hosted by Brian Kilmeade, Sean Hannity, and Jimmy Failla, preserving a lineup that remains focused on news, politics, and conservative commentary.
The decision underscores a broader industry trend as broadcasters continue evaluating the long-term viability of AM facilities. While AM radio remains an important platform for news, talk, sports, and specialty programming, many operators are increasingly relying on FM translators and HD Radio multicast channels to improve coverage and deliver a better listening experience.
For Audacy, the transition allows the company to maintain its Conservative Talk presence in southern Nevada while simplifying its technical operations. For listeners, the personalities remain the same—the dial position simply changes.
As another heritage AM station prepares to sign off, the move serves as a reminder that radio continues to evolve. Frequencies may change, transmitters may go silent, and formats may move, but strong brands and compelling personalities continue finding new ways to reach audiences wherever they choose to listen.
