Houston Radio Veteran Chuck Tiller Signs Off After Twenty Five Years At Salem

One of Houston radio’s longtime programming leaders is closing an impressive chapter.

After 25 years with Salem Media, veteran broadcaster Chuck Tiller has announced that his time with the company has come to an end following the elimination of his position on July 24. His departure concludes a career that helped shape Salem’s presence in one of the nation’s largest and most competitive radio markets.

Throughout his tenure, Tiller served as Operations Manager for Salem’s Houston cluster, overseeing AM 1070 The Answer and 100.7 The Word while guiding programming, operations, and day-to-day strategy. Colleagues throughout the industry came to know him as a steady leader who combined programming expertise with a deep understanding of the ever-changing radio landscape.

Among the milestones during his career was helping launch KNTH-AM as Houston’s newest news and talk outlet in 2004, an effort that established another important voice in the market and reflected Salem’s long-term commitment to spoken-word programming.

Twenty-five years in radio is an accomplishment in itself. Spending a quarter-century helping lead the same company through changing technologies, evolving listener habits, economic challenges, ownership shifts, and countless industry transformations is even more remarkable. Longevity like that doesn’t happen by accident—it is earned through consistency, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the craft.

While the circumstances surrounding his departure are never the way anyone hopes a long career will conclude, Tiller leaves behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism that has touched countless employees, personalities, and stations over the years. His influence extends well beyond Houston, serving as another reminder that behind every successful station is a leadership team working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep great radio on the air.

As one chapter closes, another begins. In an industry built on reinvention, experienced broadcasters have a way of finding new opportunities, and Chuck Tiller’s decades of leadership and operational experience will undoubtedly make him a valuable asset wherever his career leads next.
