Sometimes the next opportunity arrives just as one chapter comes to an end.

Veteran broadcast executive Steve Borneman has been named General Manager of WRNR, effective September 1, bringing decades of leadership experience to the Annapolis-based Adult Album Alternative station as it prepares for its next phase of growth.

Borneman will join Cortona Media’s 93.5 WRNR, leaving his current role at 100.7 The Bay (WZBA) as that station moves toward the completion of its pending sale to K-LOVE.

His arrival gives WRNR one of the most experienced market managers in the business.

Throughout his career, Borneman has held executive leadership positions across some of broadcasting’s most recognizable companies and brands. His résumé includes serving as President and General Manager of New York’s legendary WABC and WPLJ, along with executive leadership roles at ABC Radio, Citadel, and Cumulus Media. He also served as Station Manager of 710 WOR in New York, General Manager of Shamrock Communications’ Scranton/Wilkes-Barre cluster, and held senior executive positions with both Pamal Broadcasting and JAM Media Solutions.

Most recently, Borneman has led 100.7 The Bay since 2022, guiding the Baltimore Classic Rock station through a period of transition that now concludes with its pending ownership change.

For WRNR, this isn’t simply the hiring of another general manager.

It’s the addition of a broadcaster whose career has spanned America’s largest media market, major ownership groups, heritage brands, and virtually every side of the business—from sales and operations to executive leadership.

As WRNR continues serving listeners throughout Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., the station now welcomes a leader with decades of experience building radio brands, developing teams, and navigating an industry that continues to evolve.

Sometimes the biggest moves aren’t made behind the microphone.

They’re made in the corner office.
