Cox Media Group is making a significant addition to its Atlanta leadership team with the appointment of veteran programmer and operations executive Jules Riley as Director of Operations and Programming for the company’s music brands in the market.
In her new role, Riley will oversee programming strategy and daily operations for Classic Rock 97.1 The River, Adult Contemporary B98.5, and Adult R&B Kiss 104.1, three of Atlanta’s most recognizable radio brands.
The move follows a successful six-year run in Jacksonville, where Riley served as Director of Operations and Programming for Cox Media Group’s stations in Northeast Florida. Her career spans some of the country’s most competitive radio markets, including leadership positions in St. Louis, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Wichita, Tulsa, and Wilkes-Barre.
The Atlanta appointment also reunites Riley with Cox Media Group Atlanta Market Vice President David Abel, creating a leadership partnership that many inside the industry will be watching closely.
Few programming executives bring the depth of experience Riley possesses. Throughout her career, she has helped guide multiple formats, launched and strengthened station brands, developed on-air talent, and managed operations across a wide range of market sizes and ownership groups.
On The Dial Publisher Steven Mills said Riley’s track record speaks for itself.
“I’ve followed behind Jules in several programming leadership roles over the years and have always had tremendous respect for her work. She understands how to build brands, lead teams, and execute a vision. She’s super solid and is one of the most solid programming and operations minds I know.”
With Atlanta remaining one of the most influential radio markets in America, Riley now takes the reins of a cluster that reaches hundreds of thousands of listeners each week and plays a major role in Cox Media Group’s overall portfolio.
For Riley, it’s another major milestone in a career that has quietly become one of the most respected in the business.
