Worldwide News Network Powers Up With Cloud-Based Newsroom Platform

Just days after officially launching its new Worldwide News Network, Red Apple Audio Networks has revealed the technology platform helping drive the operation behind the scenes.

The network, which debuted May 23, is utilizing Radio.Cloud’s NewsCloud system as the foundation of its newsroom workflow. The cloud-based platform was selected as Red Apple raced to build and launch a national news service in the wake of CBS News Radio’s shutdown, giving the company a streamlined way to gather, produce, manage and distribute content to affiliate stations across the country.

According to Red Apple, the platform allows its newsroom staff to operate from virtually anywhere while supporting the rapid delivery of national news coverage around the clock. The company says the system was heavily customized to meet the needs of the new network and played a significant role in helping WWNN meet its aggressive launch timeline.

For Radio.Cloud, the deployment represents the North American debut of its NewsCloud newsroom platform. While the company has provided cloud-based automation services to radio stations for years, NewsCloud expands that approach into the newsroom environment by bringing news gathering, production, management and distribution into a single platform. The technology is already being used by national radio networks in Germany and Austria.

The Worldwide News Network is the latest expansion effort from Red Apple Audio Networks and WABC owner Red Apple Media. The service launched as a 24-hour radio news operation delivering top- and bottom-of-the-hour newscasts to affiliates across the United States and internationally. The company has also invested heavily in staffing the network, recruiting several veteran national news broadcasters as part of a larger newsroom buildout.

With its infrastructure now in place and affiliates beginning to come on board, Worldwide News Network is positioning itself as a new player in the national audio news space, combining traditional radio newscasts with cloud-based technology designed to speed content creation and distribution.

The launch of Worldwide News Network marks another significant expansion for Red Apple Audio Networks as the company continues building its footprint in national news and syndicated audio content.
