One of America’s most recognizable CHR stations is welcoming a new voice to its nighttime lineup.
iHeartMedia has announced that Kayla Thomas will become the new evening host on Z100 (WHTZ) in New York, beginning Monday, July 27. She makes the move from sister station 102.7 KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, where she has hosted late nights since 2022 while also being heard on stations across the country through syndicated programming.
Thomas’ journey to one of radio’s most iconic brands has taken her through several competitive markets. Before joining KIIS-FM, she hosted middays at K92 (WXLK) in Roanoke, Virginia, and previously handled nights at 94.5 WPST in Trenton while also serving as a host for the nationally syndicated PopCrush Nights.
The move also marks the end of Josh Martinez’s run in Z100’s evening time slot. Martinez joined the New York powerhouse in 2021 after building a successful programming and on-air career that included leadership roles at Kiss 107.1 (WKFS) in Cincinnati and Hot 95.7 (KOSY) in Cedar Rapids. His departure closes a chapter that saw him become a familiar nighttime voice for listeners across the New York market.
For Thomas, the opportunity represents a return to the East Coast and a chance to take the microphone at one of contemporary hit radio’s most influential stations. Her appointment continues iHeartMedia’s strategy of elevating talent from within its own portfolio while placing experienced personalities in some of the company’s highest-profile markets.
With one respected host signing off and another stepping in, Z100’s evening lineup enters a new era as one of the nation’s premier CHR brands prepares to introduce a fresh voice to New York listeners.
