Seven Mountains Media has introduced a new rhythmic throwback outlet for the Bowling Green, Kentucky market, replacing the former “The Point” rock format on its network of signals with “98 Jamz.” After spending the weekend teasing the change with rotating music blocks, the station officially debuted with a playlist built around classic hip-hop and R&B favorites under the positioning statement “Straight Throwbacks.”

The launch also marks the return of a familiar brand to the market. 98 Jamz revives the identity previously associated with 95.9 The Vibe, bringing the format back under Seven Mountains Media following the company’s acquisition and restructuring of the Bowling Green cluster.

The station’s lineup blends syndicated personalities with local programming. DeDe In The Morning anchors mornings, while the Baka Boyz take over afternoons. Longtime local personality Big Hamp, who remained connected to the brand online after its previous over-the-air run ended, returns to host weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The schedule also features a commercial-free “60 Minute Flex” during the noon hour and “The 2 Minute Promise,” limiting commercial breaks to two minutes in select dayparts.

Another programming shift accompanies the launch as R-Dub’s Sunday Night Slow Jams moves from sister CHR 107.1 WUHU to 98 Jamz, where it expands beyond its traditional weekend home with additional weeknight airings from 10 p.m. to midnight.

The move is the latest step in Seven Mountains Media’s ongoing overhaul of its Bowling Green radio portfolio, as the company continues reshaping formats and brands across the market following its acquisition of the cluster.
