There is someone somewhere in this world who may be able to save my life, and the hardest part is knowing that neither of us may realize it. That person could be sitting in a church pew, driving home from work, scrolling through Facebook, or watching a video that a friend decided to share. We may never have met, may live thousands of miles apart, and may have absolutely nothing in common. But one simple act of kindness could bring our lives together in a way neither of us ever imagined.
My name is Rev. Dr. Steven Mills. I’m a pastor, a lifelong broadcaster, a pianist, a husband, a father, and a two-time cancer survivor. I’ve spent much of my life helping others through ministry, music, and radio. Today, I’m the one asking for help.
I survived Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a bone marrow transplant, and colon cancer. Unfortunately, the treatments that saved my life also contributed to end-stage kidney failure. I now depend on dialysis every day, my heart has suffered significant damage, and I am extremely highly sensitized, making a compatible living kidney donor extraordinarily difficult to find.
Dialysis is keeping me alive, but it cannot give me back the life I’m fighting to live.
Then something beautiful happened.
Millions of people began listening. Strangers donated. Families prayed. Broadcasters told my story. People I had never met offered to explore living kidney donation. Kindness traveled farther than I ever dreamed possible.
And I love every single person who has helped.
But here’s the part I desperately need everyone to understand.
Millions of people have seen my story. Thousands have helped. And I still haven’t found a compatible kidney donor.
That’s why I’ve created the One Million Voices Challenge, asking 100 creators, 1,000 organizations, and one million people to help carry this message farther.
I’ve personally challenged Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, MrBeast, Robin Roberts, Joe Rogan, MD Motivator, TechCrunch, Selena Gomez, Sarah Hyland, and Alonzo Mourning to help in specific ways. Not because they owe me anything, but because their platforms and relationships could reach people mine cannot.
And now I’m asking you.
Maybe you can’t donate a kidney. Maybe you can’t afford to contribute financially. Maybe you don’t have a million followers or know anybody famous.
But you know somebody. And that somebody knows somebody else.
Think about that for a moment.
If you share this story with ten people, and each of those ten shares it with ten more, that’s 100 people. If those 100 do the same, that’s 1,000. One more round reaches 10,000.
Somewhere in that chain could be a person willing and medically able to help.
That’s how one ordinary share could become something extraordinary.
I am not asking anyone to promise me a miracle. I’m asking you to help make sure this story reaches the person who might be able to give me another chance.

I’ve spent my life believing that love is something we do, not simply something we say. And right now, I’m depending on that love to travel farther than my own voice ever could.
I don’t need a million people to give me a kidney.
I need one compatible donor. But it may take a million people caring enough to help me find that one.
So please, before you scroll past this story, remember that the next person who sees it because of you might be the person I’ve been searching for.
I love you. I thank you. And I pray that one day soon, I’ll be able to tell you that we found my one.
DON’T LET IT STOP WITH YOU.
